AMATEUR ATHLETICS.

MASTERTON SPORTS. R. W. Lamb, the Australian cycling crack, Avon the mile and a-half invitation scratch race at Masterton on Saturday, beating T. Oakley by a wheel; time, 3 min. 39 l-saec. In the twomile handicap, T. Oakley was the winner, with L. Baker second and Lamb third; time, 4min. 49 2-ssec. The three mile handicap was won by P. Harrison (150 yards), with Lamb (scr.) second and T. Oakley (scr.) third. Tho mile handicap and the two-mile handicap for Wairarapa riders were both won by H. Oakley, with handicaps of 85 yards and 120 yards respectively. Those wh., were expecting to see -i noteworthy performance by R. A. Rose in the three-mile foot race were disappointed, as he was not up to form, and withdrew in the fourth lap. E. G. Sutherland was the winner in throwing the javelin, the hop-step-and-jump, pole vault, long jump, and putting the shot.
