ELECTRICAL SERVICES.
WORK OF THE MONTH. BOARD ENGINEER’S RE COST. The 'report presented to the Horcwhenua Power Board, at its monthly meeting on Tuesday, by the engineer -(Mr J. A. Smith) was as follows: No. 1 Gang have run 9 service lines, erected 20 poles and run 628 chains of wire. Have erected 19 earth guards and one 11,000 volt line switch. Built one transformer platform, and erected one street lamp at Otaki. They have completed the Manakau South line, ami made alterations to the L.T. at McKay’s crossing, Paekakariki, on account of road widening, and have started the line at Hautere to the County crusher.
No. 2 Gang have run 16 services, erected 8 poles, and run 392 chains of wire.. Have made preparation for commissioning a new sub. in Weraroa. Changed wire on one service at Parapnruumu, and been engaged on general maintenance. ■ No. 3 Gang have run 4 services, erected one pole, and run 90 chains of wire. Have been engaged on pole examination, general maintenance, and attention to main sub-station. The fitter has run 4 services, and 30 chains of wire. Changed transformers Te Waka road, Paraparaumu Beach and Shannon-Foxton Circuit. Erected sj ecial danger notices at river crossing at WiroVino. Built one transformer platform and assisted gang on line work, attended to maintenance calls, aud office records, and reconditioned transform-
ers. . , , ,r General. —During the period the Munakau South line was completed and livened up on the 23rd December, anch consumers connected. By reason of the request of the Public Works Department, to ease the load if possible on account of the shortage of water at Mangahao, arrangements were' - made with the various Borough Councils for the street lights to be cut off at midnight, in the meantime. Mr Bmith informed the Board that he expected to start on the Rahui line this week, and to go on from there to Paraparaumu. The report was adopted.
