OBITUARY.

MRS W. LAURVIG. It is withi sincere regret that we announce the death of Mrs Wilhelminna Laurvig, which took place on Monday morning at the Palmerston North hospital, after a brief illness. The deceased lady, who was born at Meanee, Hawkes Bay, 55 years ago, had resided in Shannon for the past 19 years, during which period she has made many friends. The deceased lady was well known in tbnnis circles in the Manawatu district, having been a foundation member of the. local Club in which she was an active member until last season. She was a great worker for the Club and assisted in no small way to place the Club in the sound position in which it stands to-day. As an appreciation of her work she was elected a life member about three years ago. Deceased was also an active member of the Croquet Club. She always gave her help ungrudgingly for any cause that would benefit the community, and her assistance in organising functions for any good cause will be sadly missed. Mrs Laurvig was a true hearted friend to those in need and her memory will be cherished by many. Besides her husband and her daughter, Mrs J. T. Bovis. she is survived bj r her mother (Mrs MeGlashin, of Levin) and a number of brothers and sisters, to whom will be extended the deepest sympathy of a wide circle of friends in their bereavement.

The funeral will leave the Presbyter ian Church at 2 p.m. to-day.
