STATE OF THE ROADS. The Manawalu Automobile Association furnishes the following report on the condition of roads in the North Island:- 1 — • Wellington-Shannon-Palmerston N.: To Paramata in good order; thence to Pabautanui veiy badly potholed, . but under repair. McKay’s crossing (Paraparaumu) very bad and swampy for a distance. Paraparaumu to Otaki good and thence onward very fair. Palmerston North-Bulls-Wanganui: Good. Bulls-Taihape: Good. v Taihape-Tekaanu:. Gdcfd with fords all repaired; 96 miles.' Taihape-Ohakune: In fair condition, chains required if wet; 38 miles. Ohakune-Baetihi: Good metalled roa * Baetihi-Waimarino: Bumpy in places, chains required if wet;' 24 miles. Waimarino-Taupo: Surface fair; service c:trs running: 72 miles. ~ Ohakune-Taumarunui-Te Kuiti: Koad now possible if no rain; chains required sometimes; 53 miles. , Te Kuiti-Hamilton-Pokeno: Pair. . Pokeno-Auckland: Pair. Wanganui-New Plymouth: Good. New Plymouth-Te Kuiti: Bough surface to Mokau; thence fair; Awakino , to Yalley entrance pot-holed. ! Te Kuiti-Waitomo: Good. Wellington-Masterton-Napier: Good. Napier-Wairoa-Gisborne: In splendid order and all metalled; twenty miles tar-sealed, over hills, i Napier-Taupo: Good order and great improvement on last year. Has been regraded, corners rounded and surface maintained.,, Taupo-Waimarino: / Good. Taupo-Botorua-Whakatane: Good but dusty and slightly bumpy. Gisborne-Whakatane: To Opotiki, good; to Motu, good; Motu-Gisborne, bumpy and chains necessary in wet weather. Taupo-Hamilton: Pair. v
