new year tournaments. On Monday, January 3rd, a progressive pairs tournament will be played on the local green for the two handsome cups donated by Mr W. H. Gunning. The following rink from the local Club will compete' in the Dominion Tounament to be held at Palmerston , North at New Year: Messrs WJiibley, Jones, Murray and £ragliardi. „ ( - On January Bth a rink consisting of ■ Messrs H. Butt, T. Shannon, J. Roach and E. J. S. Spencer, Will leave for Auckland to take part in the tournament to be held there. They will also compete in the singles and pairs championships. DIXON CUP MATCH.. The final match of the year for the Dixon Cup was played on the Palmerston North green on Saturday, the challengers being Palmer, Bryan, Larcomb, Stuart (skip), 1)f, the Northern Club. The holders of the trophy—Kerslake, Tattersall, Fraser, N. H. Nash (skip)— were somewhat slow in “finding the green ’ ’ and the Northern' Club team had scored five points to their opponents' nil when the third head had been : : played. Palmerston North opened their account at the next end, scoring a single. Northern maintained tkeir advantage and with ten heads played led by 9 points to 6. The Palmerston' North rink, however, had equalised the score two heads later. The 13th head was disastrous for Stuart, who drove when the position was against him and, cutting out his own wood, left himself six down. Northern thereafter could notmake up the leeway and the game ;ended with the score, 19—17, in favour of Palmerston ' North. Larcomb, Stuart’s No, 3, played; an excellent game. ; . V/' "
