MANSON & BARE CUP. , The Manson and Barr Cup was successfully defended by the Shannon j holders from a challenge by a strong i rink representing the Terrace End | Club, after an interesting game. Bain ! fell at intervals during play and made the green heavy. At the afternoon tea adjournment the score was eight all on"the 11th head. From then on each side scored -at intervals until, at the 20th head Shannon wee one up on the last head. Watterston. playing No. 2 for Shannon, drew two lovely bowls which were well .protected. The visiting skip failed to alter the position and the game ended: Shannon 17, Terrace End 14 Terrace End were represented 'by Christensen, o'Grady, Johnson and Andersen (skip) and Shannon by Moynihan,'Watterston, i Jones and E. Spencer (skip). The hold- '< ers will defend a challenge from a rink ■ from the Takaro Club to-morrow. THE TRIANGULAR SHIELD. The second round in the Triangular Shield competition was played on thy Levin Bowling Green on Wednesday | afternoon. The green was pomewhat heavier than usual owing to the previ ious day's rain and a shower during the afternoon diet not add to the pleasure of the game nor to the quality of the bowling. However, the players made the best of their opportunities and—despite the weather —spent an enjoyable afternoon. Two rinks from Shannon and two rinks from Foxton competed against four rinks from the Levin Club. The games were keenly contested and some very close: finishes resulted. The local club was successful ill winning all the games. .The scores were:— Foxton, Whibley, Newth, Mattar, Christie (skip), 13 v. Levin, Pink, Cameron, Monks. Suhsn (skip), 14. Foxton, Parkin, .
