ELECTRICITY AND TRADE. "The Board has had its, first full year as a purveyor of electricity." said Mr G. A. Monk, chairman of the Horowhenua Power Board, at the monthly meeting yesterday; "and we have had a very satisfactory year. The business of the'Board is growing quite as fast, if not faster than was expected, and I think our prospects as buyers and sellers of electricity are fairly bright. This will depend a'gocd deal on the prosperity of the country. Things look brighter than they did a couple of months ago, but there is still room for improvement. At all events, I hope that the New Year will bring about a better and brighter outlook, and that we will And out after all that things are not so bad as it seemed they Avould be.
"Production, I notice, is keeping up fairly well; though the monetary rates will be considerably less, and that means that there must be a reduction in our importations, and no -doubt it will take place."
