CONCERT IN HEART OF TARARUAS.
i. /—.—♦ (From our own Correspondent). In the heart of the Tararua rang? which divides the Manawatu from the Wairarapa, 'one does not expect to hear a first class concert. Yet such was the case. .The Shajnnon Choral Society augmented by some members of their Levin and Palmcrston. North sister societies journeyed to Mangahao hydro on Ist December and there held a most successful conceit. Well mjglit Mr Howard Andrew be proud of his choir, and now those who were fortunate enough to be present look forward to another performance by the same body. Though ;i great number of the residents of.. Mangahao hydro were '' on shift,'' the hall was well filled, long before the opening chorus. The genial Y.M.C.A. secretary, Mr G. M. Sanson, is to be thanked for arranging the function and the performers certainly gave those present,a g'-eat musical treat. From the start the rendering of the various items was of a very high standaid. Mr Johnston?, chief engineer, briefly thanked the choir for their programme. Mr A. H. Morgan, president of the Society,, and Mr Andrew, conductor, replied for« same.'
