BOWLING.

Four rinks from the Shannon Bowling Club journeyed to Palmerston N. »to meet the Manawatu Club in the first of the inter-club matches that have been arranged. Quite enjoyable games were played, the result being in favour of Manawatu by four points. The fol- , lowing are the scores:— Aim, Lee, Gunning, Whibley (s) won from Jones (s), 15-14. Brann, Thurston, McDonald, Roach (s), lost to Radford (s), 13-23. White, McKinley, Watterston, Jones (s), won from Spooner (s), 25-16. . Blackwood, McLachlah, H. Butt, E. Spencer (s), lost to Corbridge (s), 1621., . Total.—Manawatu 73, Shannon 69. At the termination of the game the president of the Shannon Club thanked the Manawatu Club for the very pleasant afternoon's sport and tendered thanks to the ladies for the afternoon tea. Mr Radf or% president of the Manawatu Club, returned thanks on behalf, of his club.
