ADDINGTON MARKET.

FAT CATTLE MOVE FOBWARD CHHISTCHUIICH. Last Night. To-day's marekt at Addington was a double one on account of nest week being carnival week. Spring lambs. —The entry comprised «70 head, compared with 715 last week. The quality generally was an improvement over the previous offering, well finished lambs showing an advance of from 3s to 4s. The average price per lb. was from Hd to 12d. Values were: Extra prime lambs, 35s Gd to 38s 4d: prime lambs, 30s to 355; medium, 26s 6d to 29s 6d; light lambs, 25s to 26s 3d. Store sheep.—Lately yardings in the store sheep section have been very large ana to-day was no exception to the rule, there being a large offering of ewes and lambs, while the dry sheep penning was also much above the average for this season of the year. From the point of view of quality there was little to command the with the exception of one or two outstanding lines. The ewes and lambs were largely the property of dealers and they were mostly in low condition with very ordinary lambs. Ordinary classes of hoggets were about one shilling per head better than last week and ewes and lambs about the same. Aged halfbred ewes with fair lambs brought 14s 6d to 16s; aged three-quarter-bred ewes with fair lambs, 14s to 15s Sd; inferior aged halfbred ewes with lambs, 10s to 13s 6d; inferior aged crossbred ewes with lambs, 12s to 13s 9d; extra good Corriedale ewe hoggets, 4Gs (id; Corriedale ewe hoggets, 35s to 3(3s 6d; good crossbred wether hoggets, 23s to 24s 6d; cull halfbred wether hoggets, 21s to 22s id; two-toothed shorn wethers, 16s 4d; four and six-toothed halfbred woolly wethers, 26s to 2Ss Gd; two and four-toothed halfbred shorn wetness, • 225.

Fat sheep.—The entry in, this section was heavy, fully 15 races being yenned. Although the offering was generally of good quality, inferior sheep showed an increase, a good number of very plain shorn wethers, being included. At the beginning of the sale late rates were maintained rising to as much as Is per head above them in the middle only to drop later, the market finishing much the same as the last one but with weakening tendency. Extra prime withers brought to 47s lOd; prime wethers, 37s to 41s; medium wethers, 34s 3d to 3Gs; light wethers, 32s to 33s 9d; extra prime ewes, to 39s 4d; prime ewes, 31s to 345; medium ewes, 28s to 30s 9d; ligHt ewes, 23s 6d to 26s 9d; extra prime shorn wethers, 35s to 42s 6d; prime shorn wethers, 31s to 35s 3d; medium and light shorn wethers, 23s 6d to 28s 6d; prime woolly hoggets, 30s to 34s Id; extra prime shorn ewes, to 32s 7d; prime shorn ewes, 26s to 29s lOd; medium and light shorn ewes, 20s Gd to 25s Sd. Fat cattle. —The yarding comprised 620 head, compared with 550 last week and 560 a fortnight ago.. The demand was a good one and as a result prices advanced 30s per head and even more for good class medium-weight cattle. In the latter stages, however, the market was inclined to slip back to the extent of 10s per head or thereabouts. Prime beef made up to 44s per 100 lbs.; prime medium-weight, 38s 6d to 41s; heavy, 35s to 41s; good cows, 35s to 395; medium quality steers, 32s to 355; rough, down to 28s; extra heavy bullocks, to £2O vs 6d; prime heavy steers, £l6 to £lB 10s; prime medium-weight steers, £l4 10s to £17.; medium quality steers, £l2 to £l4; light steers, £9 to £ll ss; extra prime heifers, to £l4 17s 6d; prime heifers, £ll 10s to £l2 15s; ordinary heifers, £8 10s to £11; extra prime ccftvs, to £l4 7s 6d; prime cows, £9 to £ll 15s; medium cows, £7 to £8 15s; light and aged cows, £4 15s to £6 15s.

Vealers.—A large number was brought forward but many were unfit for butchering purposes. Good runners made to £8; medium runners, £6 to £6 15s; best calves, £5 5s to £5 15s; medium calves, £4 to £5; poor calves, 15s 4d to 30s.

Store cattle. —No quotable lines were forward. Cows formed the bulk of the offering. Good fresh young cows made to £5 10s; medium quality cows, £2 10s to £3 10s; inferior cows, 30s to £2; yearling steers and heifers, 31s 6d.

Dairy cattle.—There were 73 head, as against 39 last week. Quality was not up to the previous sale, but prices were well maintained. Best second, third and fourth calvers, springing, £7 to £!i 10s; medium sorts, £5 to £G 15s; inferior sorts, £3 10s to £4 10s; springing' heifers, £4 10s to £7 10s; old cows in profit, 35s to £3. Fat pigs.—A large entry was forward. An over supply of porkers caused prices to drop to the extent of 4s to 5s a head. Choppers, £2 13s 6d to £8; light baconers, £3 10s to £4; heavy baconers, £4 10s to £5 10b; extra heavy baconers to £6; average price per lb., 7d to 8d; light porkers, 48s to 545; heavy porkers, 57s 6d to 60s 6d; extra heavy porkers, to 72s average price per lb., Sd tp 9d.

Store pigs.—A medium entry came forward and prices improved considerably on last week's rates. Weancrs; 28s to 30s; best sorts, to 37s 6d; small stores. 40s to 445; medium stores, 45s to 50s. ,
