They wished to know if the Council would provide the necessary material to replace the .pateh, the Club finding the labour. If their request was granted he asked, would the Council during the season cut the grass' around the wicket once a week. A notice of motion moved by Cr. Cr. Thwaites said this matter had been thrashed out by the Council, the general opinion being that half the cost to the property owner was too drastic, hence his reason for moving the motion to. make the by-law read up to onehalf the cost. This would leave the Council able to deal with any case according to its merits. Around, Dump.
Cr. Biehardson reported that the fence
around the rubbish dump was under way. The work had been held up by the wet weather. Five chains of fencing wili be necessary and a gate would be required. —Left to Sanitation Committee to procure a new gate. General. It was resolved that a bath and copper be set in at the Borough foreman’s cottage. Potholes in Main Street. Cr. Thwaites drew attention to the increasing number of potholes in the main street opposite his premises. Recently, he said, they had been filled with metal, only to be scooped out immediately by the motor traffic coming round the 'corner. It was hopeless putting a few shovelfuls of metal in each hole. He contended the potholes should be picked abound, thus allowing the metal to' bind. He suggested that in future this be tjried as an experiment. The suggestion was agreed to.
