WELLINGTON LABOUR DAY CELEBRATIONS
ATHLETIC MEETINGS AND CRICKET. WELLINGTON, Last Night. Labour Day was celebrated by the holding of a successful sports meeting at Newtown Park. The athletic events were well contested, and some good times recorded. In addition to adult events, several races for pupils of secondary and primary schools were run. At the Basin Reserve, Wellington Colts played a cricket match against a Wellington team. Wellington, in the first, innings, made 241, Lambert 50, MeGirr :;G, Baker So, Kortlang •31. Bowling for Colts, Badcock took -3 for 43, Rollings 3 for 4G. Colts made 225, Rollings 79. Belby not out 40, Monkhouse and Brown each 30. Bowling for Wellington. Bush took 4 for 35, Baker 3 for 45, j-r-ui Lam-, bort 2 for 45.
