f Messrs Dalgety ana Co., Ltd., report having received the following cablegram from their London House under date of the 6th instant: —
Wool market closed very firm with competition active. Continental buyers were the principal operators for Merinos, English buyers operated actively for crossbreds. As compared with closing rates of last series, greasy merinos Id to l|d higher; scoured merinos Id to 2d higher; greasy half bred lid to 2d higher; greasy fine crossbred lsd to 2d higher; greasy medium and coarse crossbred Id to lid higher; scoured crossbred Id to 2d higher; sliped crossbred Id to 2d higher; .crossbred lambs Id to lid higher. A total of 196,000 bales offered, comprising 82,783 Australian; 76,093- New Zealand; 6077 Cape; 22,464 South American, of which 169,000 were sold, Continent bought i'3,000, Home trade 75,000, America 1000, carried forward 34,000, of which 17,500 were .not offered.
• Best scoured merino lambs 5 per cent. higher, other descriptions merino lambs a shade lower, crossbred lambs 5 per cent, higher.
