J. Kirkland, who played in the Foxton Juniors tAVo years ago, is now one of Canterbury’s foremost representatives. In the'rep. match Canterbury v. Wellington, played at Christchurch, Kirkland’s play Avas an outstanding feature of the game. The Sun in commenting on the game, refers to Kirkland as follows:-.“Well, who is it that does not agree that this Avas the best movement of the day. Kirkland came through the line-out like a baby ajax defying the lightning of the .Wellington" defence. He. scurried up the field and passed to ScrimslutAV, and the Canterbury Aving forward, instead of running, ‘flicked the ball inside him to Kirkland, Avho dived o\ r er. The man avlio started the movement croAvned it, and the speed and precision of the passing Avere a delight to see.” Kirkland is expected to have no difficulty in Avearing the All Black colours - next year. ■
