The continued litigation in which the Gisborne Harbour Board has been involved since the adoption of the river diversion scheme has been an expensive matter, and no less than £4660 has been spent in fighting the claims made in connection with the Lysnar scheme. At its meeting the other day, the board passed a payment of £5Ol 19s in connection with legal proceedings about the harbour. The withdrawal of the case from the Privy Council some little time ago brought the lengthy litigation to a close, and the board will now be abje to spend its money along more productive lines than the payment of lega costs. . . i.*'
