It is stated that Taranaki will be well represented at Otaki. gunshot and Partaga are now being looked after by W. Pine at Hawera. O. Cox, the Taranaki mentor, has provided accommodation for three more horses and is now stated to have the largest establishment in Hawera. ; A recent addition to B. C. Reed’s stable at Wingatui is stated to be the two-year-old gelding by Archery from Maslova, the dam of Marmont. It is reported that at least one owner was not satisfied with the ridiug ot one of his horses at the Otago Hunt meeting, and that the rider in question ■has been asked to hand back .his colours A new trainer at To Rapa is F. Wyld, who has a couple of maiden performers in his caTe, states a northern writer Wyhl used to train old Rangihaeta several years ago, but has not been associated with the training branch in recent years. It is reported that a Southland owner
has been negotiating for the purchase of the steeplechaser Kipling, Having Tuki to represent him over country, Mr. J. M. Samson may prove willing to dispose of Kipling, who is by no means in the top flight. \ Ganymede, who was entered for the juvenile events at the Napier Park, but who was not accepted for on the first day, is a half-brother by Lord Quex to Runnymede. He is stated to be a big, well grown gelding who may possibly be seen at his best later on in the season. j The two-year-old filly Damans, by 'Limond from Pennon, the dam of Lysandcr and Motley, is reported to be galloping well at Wanganui, and sue may carry the colours of Mr. G. M. Currie with credit later in the season. She is booked to make her first ap- ; pearance a t Trcntham next month.
