DAIRY CONTROL BOARD.
+ SITTING MEMBERS DEFEATED. . The defeat of both Messrs Dairy tuple and Fisher is hailed by opponents of control as a want of confidence motion in the Board’s policy of compulsory pools and absolute control. While Messrs Dalrymple and Fisher stood for this policy, the elected candidates, Mr J. R. Gorragan, of Hawera, arid Mr T. M. Timpany, of Southland, were both pledged to oppose it, Mr Dalrymple was opposed by Mir J. R. Corrigan, chairman of the Hawera Dairy Company, and one time member of. Parliament. The result of the election in No. 5 Ward was as follows: Mr Corrigan 350!* factory tonnage votes. ,Mr Dalrymple 253 factory tonnage votes. It is understood that Mr Corrigan has given a written pledge to- the Free Marketing League in support of the latter’s policy in connection with pools and control. In the South Island No. 9 Ward, the sitting member, Mr Fisher, was opposed by Mr T. M. Timpany one time ichairmujh 'of the Woodlands Dairy Company. The result of me election in this ward is as follows: Mr T. M. Timpany 194 J factory, tonnage votes. ' . Mr J. Fisher 56i factory tonnage votes. ' , , Mr Timpany is a keen opponent of the Dairy Board’s adopted policy, and during the election campaign severely criticised some of the Board’s past actions. The heavy defeat of Mr Fisher came as a great surprise to many, as a fairly equal voting was anticipated.
