PICKPOCKET'S MISTAKE
A PROFITABLE IOXCMAJNGi:. A GOLD RING LEFT BEHIND. Lieutenant Tino Kcmpi, of the Finnish army,' who lately visited Paris, bad a curious and profitable adventure with a pickpocket. He was making a trip to Versailles and back by motor charabanc, and on thereturn journey he discovered that bis porkcl-book bad disappeared, also that the passenger who had ridden nisxt to him on the outward trip had been left behind. His loss amounted. 1o only 200 francs, however, for, on looking under the seal of the vehicle, be found the. pocket-book where the thief bad thrown it after extracting the notes. On examining the case Lieutenant Kcmpi was surprised to discover that "it contained a tine, gold ring which had not been there* before, and winch was worth two or three times tho value of the missing notes. "Evidently, in fueling rnpidly through the pockets of the note-case, the thief had inadvertently allowed his ring to slip- from his linger, thus making a most generous exchange, instead of the one-sided operation he had planned. The lieutenant notified the police of his find, but in the cir--1 cumstances it will be diffic.lt for the ' pickpocket to claim his properly.
