I CHRISTGrIIURCH; APPLICANT APPOINTED. . Thh'ty-five applications fwene received for the joint position of secretary to the Lev in Racing Club and Horowhenua A. and P. Association, | rendered vacant by the retirement of Mr F. S. Varnham. These came from all parts of the Dominion and were fully considered by the Selection Committee, with the result that the choice fell npon Mr E. ft. Bryant, of Christchurch. He has had experience of clerical and organising work and at present holds the position of fire risk surveyor for the State Fire Department in Christchurch.

Mr Varnham relinquishes his appointment on September 30th, and proceeds to New Plymouth, where he enters into business.
