THE SECRET OF LIFE.

SCIENCE ON VERGE OF DISCOVERY LONDON, August 9. Sir Oliver Lodge made a bold prophecy in a sermon at Manchester College Chapel, Oxford. He declared that scientists were on the verge of the discovery of the secret of life and answers; to the questions: What is God? Is death the end of man? ■ . , He predicted that before the British ’Association meets in Oxford again the answers will be supplied and the universe revolutionised once more beyond all previous scope. ‘ He added: “Whereas throughout the Nineteenth Gentury and up to the present we have, been dealing chiefly with material works, there now lies before us the discovery of the spiritual world which is not yet accepted by science, but there are indications .that the questions will shortly be answered.”
