CHEATED HUSBAND TURNS TABLES ON CHEATERS.
She married without love. In fact, it was pre-anranged that she should ■marry this immensely rich man and then make his life so miserable that lie would gladly divorce her and settle a large sum of money upon her. Then she could marry the penniless man she loved. But the husband learned of their little plot, and he turned' the tables. He tricked them ; on to his yacht and took them to a far away tropical island, where their primitive: outdoor existence wore off the superficialities of convention and civilisation, and showed the depths and shallows of human nature. This adventurous romance is told in “The'.lsle of Doubt,” atl the Maoriland Theatre to-morrow. The cast features Dorothy Mackaill and George Fawcett. MAORILAND PICTURES. “WRECKAGE. ”, REALISM THE KEYNOTE. There usually is a quantity of obvious fake in the average picture of the sea, but it is marked by its absence in “Wreckage,” the Banner production which will be screened at the Ma-ori-land Theatre on Monday evening. There is a shipwreck scene and it is a shipwreck. A small ship, to be sure, but that does not lessen the size of the waves which are Pacific Ocean waves and no fooling. You see them and know that the}; are real.
May Allison and Holmes Herbert were caught in them and you can compare as you see these two struggling in the high breakers. As a matter of fact, the life boat overturned and,Miss Allison ana Herbert negrly lost their lives. In order "to get the wreck scene Scott Dunlap, the director, and Ben Verschleiser, the producer, obtained a small boat, equipped it to resemble a liner and took the cast out into a Pacific gale. The result is Tealism, of a striking nature.
