MAORI LAND THEATRE.
♦ —' _ DO WRINKLES DESTROY ROMANCE? “Temporary Marriage”' iis a story that is calculated to appeal broadly to every member of a household and be one of the most popular motion pictures of the season. It is vivid and vital, rich and dramatic, surging With fine dramatic feeling and telling a story which carries a. great lesson—the preservation of the home. It points out accurately and graphically that no husband or wife can retain his or her youth —that the proper and only solution is to resign to the inevitable and accept the ravages of time gracefully. The wife in this case learns a bitter lesson —but she emerges with her soul glorified. The picture should especially appeal to feminine audiences, since it carries a note of feminine vanity. It will be screened on Wednesday. “AS NO MAN HAS LOVED.” '
An amazing cast was assembled by Director Rowland V. Lee for “As No Man Has Loved,” the massive Fox film production which will open a,t the local Theatre on FWday. This picture unfolds the tale of Lieutenant Nolan, who** in a sudden rage, curled the United , States and swore he wished never see nor hear of it again. Doomed by a court martial to have his wish, he was transferred from ship to ship for 56 years; never allowed to set foot on land; never permitted to get a letter; never allowed to hear the words “home,” “country,” “United States” nor'“family.” Every man on every ship on which he sailed was forbidden to mention those subjects in his presence. Historical truth permits the inftrojdu'ction (of historical characters, and one thrills as he sees Jefferson, Monroe and Lincoln in the White House and Aaron Burr floating down the Mississippi River, with his flotilla. A, terrific storm off the Carolina Capes, and a mighty battle scene between a battleship and a pirate slave ship provide heart-stopping thrills. More than 1000 soldiers, sailors and pirates are engaged- in a terrific hand-to-hand struggle. The two great roles of Nolan and Anne Bissell are admirably portrayed by Edward Hearn and Pauline Starke.
