A FARMERS’ EXCURSION.

WAIKATO VISITORS’ COLD RECEPTION. A charge of discourtesy or at the least mismanagement was levelled against the uiueiai responsible for the enlertainmeJil of the Waikato Farmers who went by special train to the Ma.we.ra Winter Show, by Mr J. W. Deen at tlie Wanna!e West Demonstration Farm Mceling at Manaia. Mr Deeu remarked: “They were nut at all keen on the reception they gut from die officials or who were responsible for their entertainment. Probably It was the Winter Show Committee and the llawera people. Another thing they complained of was that they were invited on a trip to the Mountain at a bine sort of a concert. (1 have seen a far better in any country hall) anil then they were rooked a Cl. each. There was a lot of growling and’l don’t blame them. I don't know who was responsible for the arrangement but they bad a poor idea of entertainment. I don't suppose they told llawera people anything about this but in the buses and all the time there was a lot of growling. Other members of iflie Farm c.ommiltee, who. were present at the meeting contrasted very unfavourably the treatment of the liawera people with that meted outdo them at l’almorsion and even in die Waikato itself.

Mr Dean spoke of the hospitalit\ lavished by the Auckland Show 'Committee.

Tliepnatter was the subject of considerable discussion amongst members of the Waimate West Farm Committee and it was resolved that if they came again the visitors should be invited to Mann.ia when a night was promised 1 hc lll which would .-wash the dirty taste of llawera out of flu/ir month?.--Manaia Witness.
