A USEFUL BEQUEST.. WELLINGTON, July 26. At sthe annual meeting of the .Macartliy Trust the Public Trustee reported that the net income had in- , creased substantially. In view of the x neavy land, tax a number of unproductive assets iiad been . realised where retention was not justified. The hulk of the property now consisted of a city holding which is likely to show a ‘steady increase in value. The amount available for allocation this year is £12,040, as-against £10,125 last year. The total distributed since i 1913 is £95,427. " There are 92 recipients this year of amounts ranging fram £25 upwards. The principal . are the Boys’ Institute £750, St. Peter’s Mission, St. Joseph’s Orphanage and the Pluuket Society £SOO each, Home of Compassion and Boys’ Orphanage £4OO each, Residential Nursery £350, Home for Incurables and Kindergarten ,£3OO each, Alexandra Home, Day Nurseries, British and Foreigns Sailors’ Society, St. Mary’s Guild, and the Society for Relief of Aged Needy £250 each. Eleven other institutions get £2OO each.
