RUGBY CONTROL.
MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE MEETING. The Management Committee of the Horowhenua District Rugby Council met last wep:, Mr J. J. O’Connor presiding. Messrs J. Rimmer, N. Emmett, D. Braun, J. Procter, W, Neville, F. Robinson, S. Austin, W. Hannan, j. Hobson were also present. Apologies were received from Messrs H. Lynch and H. McDonald. SUSPENDED PLAYER. .' J. Hull, a Foxton junior player, admitted having been in the wrong when striking another player, for which he was suspended at last week’s meeting oi the management committee. He expressed regret at. his misdemeanour-stood down for one Saturday from date. . BEBBIXGTON SHIELD. Oroua Sub-Union sought entry to the B ebbing ton Shield competition, with a view to improving the standard of their play.—Held in abeyance pending a discussion with representatives of the Bush Union. REFEREE' IN TROUBLE.
Mr J. Sadd, referee of the Fourth Grade match at Foxton on the 3rd July, reported W. Neville, of Foxton, a member of the Referees’ Association, for unseemly behaviour. Mr Emmett, as representative of the H'orowhenua Referees’ Association, ad vised, uie committee that in consequence of evidence submitted before the committee of the Referees’ Association, it was resolved to suspend Neville therefrom.
Mr Robson said he failed to see how tile management committee could adjudicate without hearing the evidence. Mr O’Connor said lie considered Mr Sadd should have attended the meeting and submitted his evidence.
-Mr Casey said that the committee should have sufficient confidence in the Referees’ Association in a matter of this description. Mr Emmett stated that the ruling would have to go before the New Zealand Referees’ Association. The .chairman reiterated his previous contention that Mr Sadd should have appeared in person. Mr Neville stated that he had not interfered in any way with the match, neither had lie made any remarks calculated to impede the progress of the game. The chairman stated that the very nature :of the complaint made it necessary for the management, committee to deal with it, and he moved in the direction of his first suggestion; It was ‘decided to hear evidence, bath pro and con, before next week’s ineeting of the management committee. LOWER GRADE REPS. Relative to the recent tliat rep. matches shall 'be played in the lower grades, the following fixture has been made: A combined team, of Foxton D.H. School will play Levin D.H. School and Foxton, to (be played at. Foxton on the 24th July as a cur-tain-raiser to the AwahomFoxton junior match on that date. . The third grade North and South reps will be picked on Saturday for the mat oh on 31st July, as a curtainraiser to the County-Hui Mai game to be played at Levin.
