County sought to have J. Heta transferred from County B to County A, but this also was refused, the first round of the season having Ibeon closed, and for that reason alone no further transfers could be considered. FOOTBALL DONATED. The Moutoa School Committee ex pressed its thanks to the Union for the receipt of a football.—Received. WEDNESDAY FIXTURE GRANTED. The Levin D.H. School applied- for the use of the Levin Domain on July 7th, in order that they might play Otaki Maori College.—Granted. FINANCIAL STATEMENT. Mr J. Rimmer, treasurer to 'the Committee, placed a statement before the meeting, setting forth the financial . position at the present time. Receipts: Balance brought forward at commencement of season bill 19s 4d, gates £238 lbs 6d, affiliation fees £23 3s 6d, season tickets £l9 I.Bs, donations £4 2s, sundries £ls 3s lOd, total £322 17s , 2d.
Expenditure: Gatekeepers and grounds £47 ss, referees £l7 14s, petity cash £6, sundries £36 11s 6d, sundry creditors £lO5 13s 3d, credit balance £lO9 13s' sd.
In relation to the recent request from Iha Referees’ Association for the granting of £lO, Mr Rimmer said tfiat while 'the Finance Committee were fully appreciative of what the referees had done this year, it could not see' its way to granting the amount asked. However, it was'suggested that £7 10s should be granted, and' recommended that nothing further shall be advanced until an audited balance sheet has been presented at the close of any season. The 'Finance Committee had - made this recommendation on the basis of
expenditure to date (tor (referees, which would aggregate in the neighbourhood of £su by the time the season ended. This year the Referees’ Association had cost more than ever before, and while tins was no reflection on the Association, but rather because clubs were demanding outside referees, it meant an enormous expense that would have to be overcome. With, regard to the loan of £SO to the Combined Union towards the expense of sending a rep team to the South Island, the Finance Committee did not see its way to allocating this amount, as there was no assurance that the Ho-rowhenua district would show a credit balance at the year’s end. As mutters stood to-day it was possible to make the loan, but there were many contingencies to provide for, and although they might safely estimate the expenditure it was problematical as to what the receipts would be. All in all, it would be unwise to advance £SO and thereby comply with the suggestion put forward by the Mana-watu Union. Tlie chairman said that in regard to the granting of £SO to the Combined Union lie agreed, after 'hearing the report submitted by Mr Rimmer that the granting of this loan would now he impossible. There were wet Saturdays to he contended with and, all things considered, it would not be practicable to make the j suggested loan this season, o wing to the obligations to which this Union will be committed. The recommendations of the Finance Committee were affirmed. THANKS.
The Committee accorded hearty votes of thanks to Mr J. Rimmer for his work as treasurer, and also to Mr Martin 1 Winiata for the success attendant upon his work as selector of this year’s rep. team. These expressions of goodwill were amplified and confirmed by spontaneous clapping from the remainder of the Committee.
