BOWLERS’ BALL.

A SUCCESSFUL JUNCTION. The ball held in the Druids’ Hall on Friday evening by the committee of the Shannon Bowling Club proved a most enjoyable and successful function. The hall was taxed to its utmost, visitors being present from Palmerston North, Levin and the surrounding townships. The halil was prettily decorated with greenery and coloured streamers, which combined with the beautiful colours of the frocks worn by the, ladies, had a most pleasing effect. Proceedings were opened by the president, Mr A. T. White, who extended a hearty welcome to all, hoping they would have an enjoyable time. He then declared the function open by rolling the jack and a bowl up the floor. The duties of Master of Ceremonies was ably carried out by Mr J. 1. Bbvis, the music being supplied by the Jazzman! an Orchestra, which added much to the success of the

evening. Extras were played by Misses U. Bull (Levin), and M. Butler and Messrs Mason, Boy.es and B. Spencer. The supper arra.ngem.enis were carried out. by the ladies, an excellent spread being provided. The success of the function was largely due to- the efforts of the secretary (Mr A. Mason) who with, the committee had left no stone unturned to make the ball a success, and the result must be. gratifying to all concerned. The following are a. few of the frocks noticed:—Mrs A. T.
