MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE, MEETING.
Tiie weekly meeting of the Management Committee of the Horowhenua District Rugby Council met last evening, Mr J. J. O’Connor presiding. Also present—Messrs Winiata (selector), ■Austin, Procter, Braun, Lynch, McDonald, Rammer, Robinson, Neville, Emmett (Referees Association), Hannan, Robson, and Casey. Four weeks ■leave of absence was granted Mr Anderson. PLAYER REPORTED:
Mr A. McDonald, referee of the Weraroa—Wanderers’ Junior match, reported S. Horn (a Weraroa player) for kicking an opponent. Although the referee was aware of the incident being an accidental one, he had no option but to report the occurrence it having transpired in full view of the spectators. He pointed out- that Horn was a clean player, and the referee hoped the committee would overlook the offence. The information was dismissed. WEIRAROA COMPLAINS.
The Weraroa Club asked that referees should wear a distinctive jersey when controlling junior games. This Club also protested' against outside teams using the Weraroa ground to the exclusion of Weraroa teams, even though of a third or fourth grade. Mr Hannan moved that* as the Union had control of the grounds, and, as such, had, the right to allocate grounds as they thought At, no'notice be taken of the suggestion. Mr Robinson seconded the motion, which was carried without dissent,
Regarding a distinctive jersey for referees in junior matches, this request was granted. REINSTATEMENT SOUGHT—NOT
GRANTED.
The Foxton Club sought amelioration of the sentence of losing four playing Saturdays imposed on one of its players for appearing on the field in an intoxicated condition. It pointed out that this was his first offence, and he had already forfeited two matches.
“It can’t be done,’’ sard the chairman.
Mr Hannan said he thought the sentence meted out was rather harsh, in view of the comparatively light sentence recently imposed on a Tokomaru player. Mr Austin also spoke in support of the player. The letter was received, no action being taken in regard to lifting the CDRitiPTH^P HAWKES BAY REVOKE. Hawkes Bay Union- advised that it would play Manawhenua at Palmerston North on 7th August. This arrangement, they stated, was made with the Horowhenua delegate; thereby fulfilling the arrangement made last season. Furthermore, the merger of Horowhenua with Manawatu prevented Hawkes Bay from playing Horowhenua separately. Mr Procter considered that this Union should again try and secure a match with Hawkes Bay. The match had been promised and they should fulfil their obligation.
The 'secretatry was instructed to write to this effect.
TRANSFERS.
S. Simpson and L,. Rowlands, both playerg of the Tokomaru Club, applied for a transfer to Miranui, Tokomaru having disbanded. MANAWHENUA REFEREE. Mr E. Bevan has been appointed to control the rep. game on Saturday June 19th, When porowhenua, and Manawatii meet on the Levin Domain.
CLUB .FINED
Weraroa Fourths were fined 5s for having failed to notify their default to Levin D.H. School on Saturday last.
Hui Mai were also somewhat dilatory in advising the secretary of their intention, not to play Shannon on Saturday last. They have, accordingly, been warned that any future delinquency in this respect will be met with a fine.
