“THE FAST SET."

On Saturday, at , the Maoriland, the screening of Betty Gompson and Adolphe Menjou, two of America's leading film players who are seen in a picture which gives great scope for the artistic capabilities of such well-known stars. “The Fast Seit.” is the film adaptation of that well-known J. G. Williamson play, “Spring Cleaning,” which had such a successful tour through New Zealand about dour months ago and in which Pauline Frederick, a film star, made her appearance, in the leading part. The jazz and gey life in New York city has been introduced and a millionaire's mansion was Commandeered to show actual life under “The Fast Set” conditions. The Paramount supports are always, good and the films supporting the stacf feature have been selected with the object of and entertaining patrons. The IDe Luxe Symphony Orchestra which has J. Rikihana, a solo violinist, as a member will play the latest in the musical world* The box plan is at Aitken’s.

“PEACOCK FEATHERS.” For. the filming of studio scenes in “Peacock Feathers" a Uni versa!-Jewel which will be shown at the Maori! and Theatre on Monday, an, elaborate artist’s studio was built lOtti the stages at Universal City. Part of the story deals with the painting of a portrait .by Lionel Clark, a young artist, played by Prince Youcea Troubetzkoy. Other scenes in the play necessitates the_ company spending two weeks on a ranch and in the mountains while this sequence required the construction of a large high ceilinged studio. This was the most elaborate set used during “IPeacock Feathers” and was the most expensive set oni the. Universal lot during its use despite the fact that 20 other .pictures were under production.
