TWO PECULIAR BEQUESTS

Two curious beques)ts of a hundred years ago were quoted in th e Times recently from an issue of 1826. A gentleman in Yorkshire, on his death, left the whdleof his, property to such of his descendants only as should reach the height of 6ft 4in. Henry Porter, of Easton, near Lincoln, left 30s to be spent in tea ,ror the enjoyment of the poor women of his parish, in commemoration of his funeral. The merry mourners accoraingly indulged in the beverage during the burial.
