GOLF NOTES.

MONTHLY MEDAL MATCH. Saturday being a perfect day for golf there was a full field of starters in the monthly medal match, yet in spite of ideal conditions very few good cards were returned; Goodwin's -score of net 72. and Mies Saxon's 63 heading the list. Goodwin created somewhat of a sensation by holing out ,in one at No. 8, for which achievement he very sportingly jpaid the penalty. Next Saturday .a inter-club match will be played with Levin on the local links. Play will commence at 1 p.m. sharp. The following players have been selected to represent Shannon: Saxon, Morgan, Mackereth, Sep fert, Gagliardi, Goodwin, F. Murray, . Jones, Spencer, J. W. Murray, Blackwood, Johnston. Emergencies: J. R.

Moody, Burges. .. ' • Ladles: Mrs Saxon, Mrs John ston, Miss Sinclair, Miss Saxon, Miss Cole, Mrs Spencer. Emergencies: Mrs Gronquest, Miss Gunning. Any members unable,to play are requested to notify the secretary as soon as possible. LOCAL RULES. The following local rules for the new course are now in force:— I.—Players may tee up on the fairways within a club's length, not nearer the hole, from where the ball lies except where otherwise provided for.

2_A flayer within 20 yards of the hole striking the fence- guarding the green or other impediments placed there for the purpose of repairing the green must replay the shot, but incurs no penalty. 3.—A ball within two club-lengths of a fence on the fairway may be taken back a safe- distance and played.

Hazards.—The ball must toe played where it lies. Out of Bounds.—The river to night of No. 1: ' -
