This 'evening' the fortnightly dance to be held under the auspices of the Ladies’ Guild of Ven. Bede’s will take iplace in the Parish Hall. The Maori Orchestra wiill provide the music and a good time is assured those who attend.

Notwithstanding that the past season has been an unsatisfactory one from the daliry farmers point of view, tit is expected that the Shannon Co-operative Dairy Go.’s output of butter will only be about 20 tons short of last year’s output, which was 762 tons.

There was a very large muster at the last practice of shannon Choral Society and the choir put in some very hard work. This is very necessary as the concert is approaching., The 'coimtni ttele can take no more new members for this session, hut will 'be glad if the members will endeavour to attend every practice till now on. • By an almost unanimous vote it was decided to carry on next Thursday night although it is a holiday, members saying they would get back for the practice.

Mr Lindsay Randasll, who lias been a resident of Shannon and district for some years, leaves Shannon today for Wellington, where he has taken over the license of the Royal Tiger Hotel. Mr Randall during his residence in Shannon has alwaystaken a keen interest in football and cricket,- matters, and by his departure his services will be missed by followers >of both games. Mr and Mrs Randall’s numerous friends in Shannon and district will join with ns in wishing them every success in fheir new sphere- of activities.

Word has been received that, the Shannon Co-operative Dairy Co. had been successful with their butter exhibits at the Hamilton' Show, hav-. ing won three- firsts, ,t\vo seconds and the grand bhampiobship banner for the highest aggregate number of points gained in certain sections. This splendid achievement by Mr Aim (manager) and his staff must be very gratifying to- the Company. It also speaks well for the quality of the cream -supplied to the factory, when it is to be remembered that this year the number of exhibits in the butter section at the Hamilton Show totals approximately 900.

.On Saturday evening at the Druids Hall a number of friends of Mr Bartholomew, of the Bank of New Zealand staff,- who has. been transferred on promotion to Ivaikoura, gathered to bid him • farewell. The evening was spent in song and story, and a number of toasts honoured; a pleasant time being spent by all. During the evening, 'Mr Blackwood referred to the prominent part the guest had taken in the sporting life of the .town, during his residence in Shannon, he having been an active member of the Bowling, Football, Cricket and Tennis Cluibs, in all of which he had rendered valuable service. On .behalf of those -pres-cnt he asked him to accept as a momenta of their appreciation a bowler’s case iaind a fountain pen, at the same time congratulating him on his promotion and washing him every success in his career and happiness in Iris new home. Mr Bartholomew suitable returned thanks.
