FIRE AT MARTINBOROUGH.
SEVERAL PREMISES BURNT. CARTERTON, May 24. A disastrous Are occurred at Martinborough early this morning when Troimce’s hoarding-house, a twostoried wooden building in Jellicoe Street, was totally destroyed. The flames spread to Hunter’s Garage, Lewis’s hairdressing saloon and 11. L. Griffith’s solicitor’s office, all or which were destroyed. Lack of water prevented the Fire Brigade staying the progress of the flames, ‘but vacant sections confined the area damaged to.one block. the cause of the outbreak is a mystery. The insurances were: Troumce’s building £IOOO, furniture £650; Lewin’s £750 on the building, £75 on the hairdressing saloon and stock, and £250 on the billiard room furniture. Hunter’s Garage had just completed a new addition, which it is finderstood Avas not covered at all, The other insurances are not available.
