PALMERSTON HOSPITAL BOARD.
SIR J. G. WILSON RE-ELECTED.
At Thursday’s meeting of the Palmerston North Hospital Board, Sir J. G. Wilson was unanimously re-elected chairman for the ensuing year. In proposing that Sir James should continue in office, Mr. J. A. Nash congratulated the ratepayers of the Mana. watu County in returning him as their representative. 1 It was well known that Sir James had retired from active wprk on the County Council after a long , career and as far as the Palmerston 1 North Hospital Board was concerned, he had accomplished work which he might justly be proud of. Mr. Nash also returned personal thanks to Sir James “for .what he had done in the interests of suffering humanity.” ■ In reply, Sir James remarked that hospital work was one of the pleasures of local body work. “You feel you are doing something for the people,” he added, “and you can’t always say that in connection with other local, body work.”' After referring to the progress that the institution had made and was making, Sir James paid tribute to the work of the staff and considered the public did not know of the great services given by the surgeons and nurses. It was a pity that in some towns there was friction between the M.B.A. and Boards but this was not the case in Palmerston North.
