The rain received during the last few weeks must, have been very acceptable to the engineers at Mangahao power works, as, during the dry spoil, vcrv little rain fell on the Tamrua watershed and -it is reported that the water-level in the Mangahao dam was giving the engineers a good deal o\ anxiety. The load was being maintained" but the water-storage was gradually Incoming depleted, and as the. Napier load shortly to be added to that alreadv imposed on the Man gall ao system, it is hoped that no unforseen circumstance will arise to retard the completion of the dam at present mirier construction to provide extra storage in the Mangahao river. Undoubtedly, this serves to stress the need of pushing ahead with the Waikaremoana scheme .
