FLOWER SHOW.
A GOOD DISPLAY. Owing to the boisterous weather, prevailing on Wednesday . for the Flower-Show held in the Parish Hall, under the auspices of the committee j of Ven. Bede's Church, the attendance I both afternoon and evening was very * small. The entries received showed lan increase on last year's, notwithstanding that the weather of the past two or three weeks had not been J-ay-jourable for gardens. In the flower j classes there was a splendid display of high quality chrysanthemums, the } decorative classes also being good. Both the produce and vegetable sections were an improvement on last year. Apart from the exhibits there were stalls well supplied. with articles, both useful and ornamental, all being very nicely arranged. The children were well catered for with a bran tub and fairy pond, presided over by Flo McKenzie (gnome), joy Symes (Red Fairy), and Marjorie Small (Chinese Hawker). In the afternoon several competitions wore got off, in which the lucky ones received some very nice prizes. The secretary (Rev. Mr Farnell) and his committee worked 'hard and it is a great pity there was not a better attendance.
