During that time the Chamber has done much for the improvement of Shannon and of benefit to it.-; citizens. To go ..over tiie work of the past three years would show conclusively that good •work "had been done, buit lie would touch briefly on the past year.. As is usual ' ill all 1 towns after the first year, the membership decreased, the drones gradually falling away until to-day the membership comprised the workers and ft is to these that the credit ol success are due. During the year the Chamber had been, responsible for ■forming a Phinket Society, 'which had progressed and was proving a boon to many mothers. It had persistently urged for better ; facilities and lighting at the Railway Station and in some instances, with success, and it was expected that by its efforts a dry dock would soon he built there. Repeated appeals to the .Post and Telegraph Department had 1 brought forth lights in the letter box, extension of telephone hours, and recently the promise of. letter boxen in various parts of the town. The Koputa-roa-Buckley Road we have worked hard fo;r and the result of our efforts will be known (shortly. The spade work to connect up the road with . Eketahuna is now almost complete and it appears as though we,will be successful. The Chamber also has been the means of starting the People’s Picnic on -New' Year’s Day. The first one being quile a success, 'while the next one Avith the Haka and Pot Championship of New Zealand,. pi\o : mises to be one of the outstanding days' of ' the year: These are onlysome of the things accomplished, and any one of them would warrant the existence of the Chamber, there are many things yet to be done, and \ by each doing our little bit we can do them. He thanked members for their interest and effort, and the secretary (Mr Thwaites) for his zeal and energy,' xvho, he said, had put in a lot 'of” work on. the. Chamber's '.behalf and' it was largely on Ins account that it had been so successful.—The report was adopted. ELECTION OF . OFFICERS. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mr A.
