SUBJECT TO SIX CENT. DUMP DUTY CANADIAN IMPORTER'S PROTEST. (Received This Day, 9.5 a.m.) VANCOUVER, May 5. Mr A. P. Slade, tile chiel VancouV v:er importer of Australian and New Zealand butter, is protesting to the Government against the new dump duty of six cents, which is to be re-tro-active from January 1. Vancouver importers are launching a trade protest throughout the Dominion. Mr Slade states: “Fresh Australian and New Zealand butter was sold to Canadians , at one cent profit when home supplies were short du,e to heavy exports to'Britain, thus saving Canadians from high prices. A million and a half pounds of butter' is liable to the duty.”
