The triennial elections in connection with the County Councils take place throughout the Dominion oh Wednesday, May 12, and nominations close with., the respective County Clerks next* Tuesday, May 4th. So far in the Horowhenua County little interest appears to have been taken in the matter, and intending candidates have not taken the ratepayers into their confidence. It is understood that there are likely to be some new aspirants for County honours in the Wirokino Riding, the matter having been discussed in one quarter with a view to bringing out some .opposition to sitting members. In the others there is so far no mention of new blood. The retiring councillors are as follow: Tokomaru Riding.—Crs. H. Barber and J. R. Whyte. Wirokino Riding.—Grs. ,S. A. Broadbelt, C. I. Harkness, and G. P. Catley. Otaki.—Crs. F. J. Ryder and H. G. Bryant. Te Horo.—Crs. G. A. Monk and C. P J6HS6H POWER BOARD ELECTIONS; Coincident with these elections, the County representatives on Power Boards have to be chosen. Here again there are- no, big issues at stake, and it is anticipated that the sitting members will be ,reinstated. In this issue, Messrs G. A. Monk, A. Seifert and A. A.
