SHANNON BOWLING CLUB.

. * .. ANNUAL MEETING. The above meeting was held on Thursday evening, there being a large attendance of members. The ■meeting w;as held earlier than usual this season, owing to the fact that certain .Improvement© (are urgently needed to the green and to do these it was necessary to call members together to discuss what was to be done and to go into ways, and means of raising the money to have the work carried out. The balance sheet presented showed receipts to be £147 13s 2d, expenditure £144 16s 9d, credit (balance £2 16s 4d, outstanding subscriptions £7 10s. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The following officers were elected: President, Mr A. T. White; vice-presi-dent, Mr B. Spencer; secretary and treasurer, Mr A. Mason; general committee, Messsr T. Shannon, A. Blackwood, F. Whibley, A. H. Morgan, J. Gagliardi, W. Clayton, J. Murray, T. Watterston and H. 'Knowles;' green committee, (Messrs E. Butt, E. .1. S. Spencer, Jas Murray; delegate to centre, Mr E. J. S. Spencer; auditor, Mr J. T. Bovis; selection committee, Messrs \V. Clayton, J. Gagliardi, and H. Knowles. A motion that one selector be appointed, was lost. Votes of thanks were accorded to the retiring president and secretary, Messrs J. T. Bovis and J. V. Burns. . THE GREEN. . ~ The chairman.of the green committee reported that the general opinion, was that" the green was not in good playing order. There were two factors: First, a bad border which had decayed, causing the green to subside and become out of true.; secondly, the green, required top-dressing. It was estimated the top-dressing would cost £25 and to ibring it to a true level another £ls. Mr Blackwood said he had taken levels of the green and had found it was not out much. -There was a fall in the middle near the croquet lawn towards the corner by the tea pavilion, also in front of the main pavil- j ion. !

A. long discussion 1 followed as to ways and means of raising money to put the green in order. A number of suggestions were made, finally it was decided to increase the subscription to £3 for the coming season. It was resolved to leave the topdressing and attention to the green in the hands of the Green Committee. If possible, ■ the work to be done in conjunction with the top-dressing of the Croquet green. GENERAL. It was a recommendation to the delegate that he endeavour to get more gala days with the Centre. Members agreed that the afternoon tea arrangement with., the ladies of the Croquet Club, had been satisfactory. If the ladies will agree to' the same terms for the coming season, the cl;u!b decided to accept them. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded the members of the Croquet Club. On the motion of Mr Gunning it was decided to try and revive the gala days with neighbouring clubs. It was pointed out that in the past these gala days had been most, enjoyable. The meeting 'then adjourned till early in September,
