MR G. WATKINS ELECTED. The extraordinary - election for a councillor to fill the vacancy caused by Hie promotion of Mr E. Butt, to tne Mayoralty, was held yesterday. Little interest was taken as can be judged bv the fact that- only 241 electors recorded their votes out of a total oi 600 on the roll. There were three candidates for the vacancy, viz., Messrs D. McLaggan. A. .Richards and G. Watkins. The poll closed at 7 p.m. and a few minutes later die returning officer, Mr J.
