AUCKLANDER TALKS TO WILKINS' . EXPEDITION. AND BOTH WITH ROSS SEA WHALERfS. AUCKLAND, April 19. An Aucklander who has been in wireless communication with the Wilkins' Arctic Expedition, in Alaska is Mr' C. W. Edwards, of Point Chevalier. He picked up the call of Lieutenant Messer of the U.S.A. Signal Corps at 9.15 on Monday night on a wave length of 33 metres, his receiver being of the ordinary short wave 'two-valve type. Though atmospherics were bad, Messrs Messer and Edwards conversed in Morse for an hour without, a single repetition being necessary. Mr Messer reported the Auckland signals as being strong on Wednesday night. .Messrs Messer and Edwards had a clear conversation in Morse for % hours some months ago and they obtained communication with the Ross Sea whaling expedition in Antarctica.
