The vessels Avail have To.ua- screw Sulzer engines, 17,000 brake house power, a speed of 17 knots, and accommodation for 340 first, and 700 third class passengers, ft is anticipated the steamers will .be completed at the end of 1957 for the New Zealand j trade. j With reference to -the. arrangements . of the Aberdeen and White Star line steam em, Sophocles and Diogene, for ' the New Zealand trade, the first, renamed the Tamaroa, sails from England in September next, and the second, re-named the. Mataroa. sails from : England in November, both being converted to oil burners. They are I considered a great acquisition to the New Zealand-London passenger trade.
