STRANGE POjWER! CLAIMED. NEW YORK, March 16. A fantastic secret was revealed after many yeans’ silence by Edward Hatch —a farmer, of Brewster, New York State. The water on his farm, he claims, has the peculiar power of bringing about an overwhelming preponderance of male births.Tlie hired man’s wife has had seven sons. Ninety-seven per cent of the animals bom on the farm are males, ail the chickens are roosters, and- even the house cat has had seven male kittens. Som© years ago, Hatch alleges, the Russian Consul went to the farm and took away a barrel of the water. He refused to divulge his purpose, but abouit a year later a male heir was horn to the Imperial Russian throne.
