FINED FIVE POUNDS. PALMERSTON N., April 12. Garry Gambitsis, fishmonger, pleaded guilty in the Court this morning, that being the driver of a motor car,, lie failed to stop when an accident occurred, and also to driving a car without a license. The police stated accused was driving a car in Cook Street, yesterday afternoon and knocked down a girt of four years, who sustained a broken leg. After the accident accused slowed the car down and looked round, but went pn. A taxi' driver who witnessed the occurrence, went after defendant and compelled him to return. He was fined £3 for not stopping, and £2 for driving without a license. ALLEGED NEGLIGENT DRIVING. CHARGES DISMISSED. J3ANNEVIRKE, April 12. George Paris and Archibald Ernest Johnson were before the Magistrate/* Court, the former charged with negligently, driving a motor car and the latter with assisting Paris in negligent driving. The charges arose out of a motor accident in High Street on the evening of February 6th last, when a car owned by Johnson and driven by Paris met with a mishap and George Lawry, a passenger therein. received injuries from which lie subsequently died. After hearing the evidence the Justices of the Peace dismissed the informations.
