. * RECONSTRUCTION IN! NEAR FUTURE At Wednesday's meeting of the Manawatu County Council a general discussion took (place in reference to the Shannon bridge re-construction. Councillors did not appear to know bow things were prograssing and it was decided to get into telephonic oonaraunication with the chairman of the Highways Board. Sir James Wilson subsequently reported that the Board was dealing with the matter and the prospects were bright. It had been decided that the maximum width «tf the new (bridge should be 18 feet and the Board had decided on the road line, which was now being surveyed. When the surveys and plans ihad'ibeen completed they would toe presented to the ■Board for approval and the work would be proceeded with in the near future.
