SHANNON GOLF CLUB.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Shannon Golf Club, held in the-Borough Chambers last evening, was largely attended and the outlook for,the coming season is particularly bright. The balance sheet showed the satisfactory credit of £l4 13s 9d. The election: of officers f'or 1926 resuited as follows:—President, Mr A. Blackwood; vice-president, Dr. Mackereth; captain, Dr. Mackereth; hon. secretary, Mr A. H. Morgan;. committees, Men's, Messrs Murray, Gagliardi Seifert, Spencer and the principle officers; ladies, Mesdames Spencer, Johnston, Burgess, Morgan, Misses Huffam, Sinclair and Cole; selectors and handicappers, the captain and Mr A. Saxon. The subscription for the coming season was fixed at £1 3s for gents and 12s 6d forf ladies. The question of affiliation was left over till the end of the Association's financial year. A letter Was read from Mr G. Mitchell regarding a paragraph that appeared in tin? golf notes in the Mariawatu Times. This caused a good deal of discussion and comment and -it was decided to write to Mr Mitchell expressing the deep regret of the club and pointing out that such notes were not and did not come from the Qub. Whole-hearted appreciation was expressed to Mr Mitchell for the use ictf his property during the last three years. . It.as hoped that the new links will be prepared within the next few weeks and would be ready for opening day on April 17th. Thanks were expressed to Mr Hayes for the valuable work he has done during the past year, also 1 to thei donors of trophies. During the year the following prizes were won: Opening day trophy, Miss Sinclair and Mr Robinson; May medal, Miss Sinclair and Mr A. Saxon; June 3rd, tournament, Miss Saxon and Mr A. H. Morgan; June medal, Miss. Sinclair and Mr F. Murray; July medal, Mrs Johnston and, Mr J. W. Murray; tombstone match,-Mr Henry; August medal, Miss Saxon and Mr W. Goodwin; putting competition, Mr Jones; Dr. Mackereth's, itrophy, tor most improved player, Miss Saxon. A vote of thanks was Rendered to the outgoing officers. _ Apologies for absence were received from last year's president, Mr T. A. Johnston and a number ot others.
