Wool. —Sales closed Thursday with Arm tone. Offerings totalled 142,500 bales of which 119,000 sold Continent, Home Trade, 45,000, America, 5,000. Competition more widely distributed than during previous series, and more confidence in prices at the close. Compared with last series rates. Merino and fine crossbred 5 per cent, higher. Medium and coarse crossbred par. Average closing rates:—6o/64’s (Merino), Is 6d to 2s .per lb.; 50’s (super half-bred), Is 6Sd to Is 9d per lb.; 48/50’s (fine crossbred), Is 4d to Is 5d per lb.; 44/46’s (medium crossbred), Is 2Xd to Is 3ld per lb.; 36/40’s (coarse crossbred), Is lid to Is 2Zd per lb.
