THE SHANNON MAYORALTY.
MR E. BUTT ELECTED UNOPPOSED. i Nominations for the extraordinary vacancy for the Mayoralty, caused by the retirement of Mr W. Murdoch, closed with the Returning Officer (Mr 3. T. Bovis) at mid-day on Wednesday. Only one nomination .was received, that of Mr Edwin Butt, who was duly elected. The swearing in ceremony will take place at the Council Chambers next Tuesday evening at 8 p.m.
