LONG DELAYED INQUEST.
AN AGGRESSOR DISAPPEARS. AUCKLAND, March 25. After a drinking bout for two days in August last year, Andrew Soutter became entangled in an argument and was struck by a man. He fell to the footpath and died a few hows' later. The adjourned inquest was held before Mr McKean, S.M., this morning. Ernest Walton, who was in company with Soulter, said tJhat, as far as he could see, the man who struck deceased had no reason for doing so. Dr. Murray said the injuries causing death could ha,ve been caused by deceased striking his head on the footpath when falling. The police made inquiries as the result of which a warrant was issued on September 25th charging a man with manslaughter. It was found that the man left Auckland on August 28th as a member of the crew of the Moeraki for Sydney. Hie deserted ithe ship at Sydney on September 2, and had not been-located. The Coroner returned a verdict that death was due to haemorrhage caused i>y a fall the result of the blow re ceived.
